Scan discs

Measure big things with a phone camera.

Lay the numbered discs around a floor, a deck or a part. Take overlapping photos. Our desktop scanner finds every disc, works out the true scale, and gives you a drawing you can cut.

How the discs work

Every disc is a known size

The square code on each disc is exactly 64 mm, and every disc in a set has its own number. The scanner uses them to fix the scale and stitch the photos together.

Place the discs

Spread the 20 discs over the area, a few in every photo.

Take photos

Walk the area with your phone, overlapping each photo with the last.

Scan

The desktop scanner builds one true-size picture and lets you trace the outline.

Cut

Save the drawing as DXF, open it in RLF3D, and make the cut file.

Scanning runs in our desktop scanner, not in the web app.

Why buy a pack?

Every code has to be printed at exactly the right size, flat and sharp, or the scale is off. Our packs are made and checked for the scanner, so they just work.

Your own discs

Use your own design

Want discs with your logo, or made from your own material? Send us your artwork or a photo of the item you want to use. We check it and get back to you.

The rules that keep scans accurate: the square code must stay exactly 64 mm and in the same place as on our discs, and no number may repeat in a set. Decorate around the code, never on it. Artwork files (PDF, AI exported to PDF, SVG, PNG) are best; a phone photo of an item is fine for a first look.
